Plymouth AWB (Altered Wheel Base) Gold Metallic with Graphics and Orange-Tinted Windows UFO Limited Edition 1/18 Diecast Model Car

A brand new 1/18 scale diecast car model has been created, representing the 1965 Plymouth AWB (Altered Wheel Base) in a Gold Metallic color with Graphics and Orange-Tinted Windows. This "UFO" model is a Limited Edition, with only 636 pieces produced worldwide.

The die-cast model car features a new roll rubber with full race-detailed removable doors, and is licensed and plumbed. It is constructed of diecast metal with some plastic interior and exterior components, including the engine. The dimensions of the model are approximately H-3.5 inches.

In June of 1963, Plymouth announced the development of the 426 cubic-inch 'Super Stock' or 'Max Wedge Stage II' V8 engine, intended primarily for supervised drag racing and stock car racing. This powerful engine would go on to play a significant role in the story of the UFO.

Tom tells the story of the birth of the UFO: "We rolled the car into Shadowoods Auto Center in Roseville, Michigan-my dad's business-at the end of the 1965 race season in order to build it for Experimental Stock. It never left the shop until it was ready to race in the spring of 1966."

When the UFO emerged from Robert Tignanelli's shop, it was as if the car had been abducted by aliens. The modifications had made it unbelievably faster. During the 1966 season, Dieter Nubel would create the UFO's signature nose piece, further enhancing its performance.

Tom's efforts behind the wheel of the UFO were highly successful. He was the NHRA Division 3 Points Champion in XS, and earned a C/XS National Championship in his follow-up 1967 season. Additionally, numerous class wins and eliminator victories would pile up, establishing the UFO as an extremely successful race car for Tom and the entire Tignanelli family.
